Paola Borovic

Paola Borovic is a Croatian athlete, who specializes in the long jump and triple jump. She is a multiple national champion indoor and outdoor. Her personal best in the long jump is 6.36m and in the triple jump is 13.61m.

Paola Borovic was born on June 26, 1995. She started in athletics as a kid to became one of the biggest talents in Croatian athletics.

Paola Borovic started her competitive career already in 2010, winning the long jump gold at the Varazdin Croatian U18 Championships and Maribor SLO-CRO-HUN U16 Match. She also won the bronze at the Pordenone Alp-Adria Meeting.

Paola Borovic gained her first international experience in 2011 when she took eighth place in the triple jump at the Lille IAAF World Youth Championships with 12.82 m and failed to make a valid attempt in the long jump qualification. She then reached ninth place in the triple jump at the Trabzon 11th European Youth Olympic Festival with 12.24m. Meanwhile, she won the silver at the Zagreb Croatian Championships and the bronze at the Rijeka Croatian Indoor Championships in the long jump, as well as the bronze at the Rijeka Croatian Indoor Championships in the triple jump.

In 2012, Paola Borovic dominated the national junior championships, winning the long jump gold at the Zagreb Croatian U18 Indoor Championships and the triple jump gold at the Zagreb Croatian U18 Indoor Championships, Zagreb Croatian Junior Indoor Championships, Zagreb Croatian U23 Championships, and Zagreb Croatian Junior Championships, as well as the long jump silver at the Zagreb Croatian Junior Indoor Championships. During the season, she won the bronze at the Rijeka Croatian Indoor Championships and the silver at the Beograd Balkan Youth Championships and Zagreb Dinamo Meeting in the triple jump.

In 2013, Paola Borovic competed at the Rieti European Junior Championships in the triple jump but failed to qualify for the finals. She won silver at the Zagreb Croatian Championships and Rijeka Croatian Indoor Championships, as well as gold at the Praha CZE-CRO-SLO-HUN Junior Match.

In the years from 2014 to 2022, Paola Borovic became the Croatian champion in the triple jump, and from 2014 to 2017 and in 2019 and 2020 also in the long jump. She also won the triple jump national indoor titles from 2014 to 2023 and the long jump national indoor titles from 2015 to 2017 and 2019 and 2020. She is in total 17-time National Outdoor champion and 15-time National Indoor champion.

In 2014, Paola Borovic competed at the Riga European Athletics Team Championships Second League, finishing 6th in the long jump and 5th in the triple jump. She also took part in the Eugene IAAF World Junior Championships, but again did not qualify for the finals neither in the long jump nor in the triple jump.

In 2015, Paola Borovic finished 4th in the long jump and the triple jump at the Stara Zagora European Athletics Team Championships Second League and also competed in the Tallinn European U23 Championships, where finished 9th in the triple jump. She took part in the Pitesti Balkan Championships but remained 7th in the triple jump.

Paola Borovic continued competing internationally in 2016, taking part in the Zagreb IAAF World Challenge, where remained 7th in the long jump. She also competed at the Pitesti Balkan Championships but finished 4th in the triple jump and the long jump.

In 2017, Paola Borovic was part of the Croatian team to compete at the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships, finishing 10th in the triple jump. She also took part at the Zagreb IAAF World Challenge but remained 8th in the triple jump. However, during the season she earned the triple jump bronze and long jump silver at the Slovenska Bistrica International Meeting.

In 2018, Paola Borovic won the triple jump bronze at the Stara Zagora Balkan Championships and Istanbul Balkan Indoor Championships. In the next season, she repeated the success indoors and defended her bronze medal at the Istanbul Balkan Indoor Championships, while in 2020 grabbed the silver in the same event.

In 2022, Paola Borovic made her debut in the Diamond League, competing at the Ooredoo Doha Meeting in the triple jump, but finished only 8th. She also competed at the Munich European Athletics Championships but remained out of the finals. During the season she won the bronze at the Boysen Memorial in Oslo.

In 2023, Paola Borovic continued dominating the long jump and triple jump locally, winning the gold in both events at the Karlovac Croatian Championships. She took part at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships but again did not reach the finals. Meanwhile, she earned the bronze at the Meeting Sport e Solidarieta Lignano in the long jump and the Meeting Jaen Paraiso Interior in the triple jump, as well as the triple jump silver at the Hungarian GP Series in Budapest.
