Birna Kristjansdottir

Birna Kristjansdottir is an athlete from Iceland, who competes in various events, including sprints, hurdles, and the long jump. She is a two-time national and two-time national indoor champion.

Birna Kristjansdottir was born on June 30, 2002. She started in athletics at an early age and quickly gained success, proving herself as one of the biggest talents of the country.

Birna Kristjansdottir started her competitive career in 2015, competing at the Reykjavík International Games in 60m, but remained out of the final.

In 2017, Birna Kristjansdottir won her first national title, triumphing at the Reykjavík Icelandic Indoor Championships in 60m. During the outdoor season, she also competed at the Selfoss Icelandic Championships but remained 8th in 100m and 4th in 200m. During the season she also competed at the Gyor 14th European Youth Olympic Festival, but missed the medal.

In 2018, Birna Kristjansdottir earned the silver at the Saudárkrókur Icelandic Championships in long jumo, but missed to win a medal in 100m, finishing 5th. Meanwhile, she collected several gold medals at the junior championships, winning the gold at the Reykjavík Icelandic U18 Championships in 100m, 100m hurdles, high jump, long jump, and triple jump, while at the Hafnarfjördur Icelandic U18 Indoor Championships won the gold at the 60m and long jump, as well as the silver at the 200m and 60m hurdles.

In 2019, Birna Kristjansdottir won the gold at the Reykjavík Icelandic Championships in the long jump, as well as the bronze at the Baku European Athletics Team Championships Third League and Hafnarfjordur Icelandic Indoor Championships in the same discipline.

In 2020, Birna Kristjansdottir won the silver at the Reykjavík Icelandic Indoor Combined Events Championships in the pentathlon. She also won the silver at Hafnarfjirdur Icelandic Indoor Championships in the long jump and the bronze in 60m hurdles.

Birna Kristjansdottir made another strong season in 2021. At the Reykjavík Icelandic Indoor Championships, she earned the silver in 60m, 60m hurdles, and the long jump, while at the Akureyri Icelandic Championships, she won the gold in the long jump. During the season she also won the long jump bronze at the RIG Games in Reykjavík and the 4x400m relay silver at the European Athletics Team Championships Second League.

In 2022, Birna Kristjansdottir won the long jump bronze and the 100m silver at the Hafnarfjordur Icelandic Championships, as well as the long jump gold at the Selfoss Classic 2022. She also competed in the heptathlon at the Virginia Challenge.

Birna Kristjansdottir started the 2023 season with strong performance indoors. She earned the second indoor title at the Reykjavík Icelandic Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles, but also at the competition won the 60m and long jump silver. At the RIG Games, she earned the long jump bronze, while at the Reykjavík Icelandic Championships, she won the silver at the 4x100m relay and 100m, as ell as bronze in the long jump.
