Janka Molnar is a Hungarian sprinter and hurdler specializing in the 400m distance. She is a five-time national champion and four-time national indoor champion with personal best of 51.74 sec on 400m and 56.03 sec on 400m hurdles.

Janka Molnar was born on January 5, 2001. She started in athletics as a child and dominated the junior championships in her region in different sprint disciplines. She is Hungarian U14 champion in 300m and 600m.

Janka Molnar started competing already in 2015, winning the local Debrecen Kelet Kupa, Tiszaújváros World Athletics Day, and Bielsko-Biala tournaments in 300m, as well as winning silver at the Budapest Hungarian U16 Championships, Budapest Hungarian U16 Indoor Championships, and Dortmund Hallensportfest in the same discipline.

In 2016, Janka Molnar continue dominating local events, winning the gold at the Tiszaujvaros Atletikai Vilagnap, Debrecen Hungarian U16/U14 Championships, and Budapest Hungarian U16 & U14 Indoor Championships in 300m, and Trabzon Gymnasiade, Budapest Regional Indoor Championships, and Budapest MASZ Nyílt Verseny in 400m. She also won silver at the Budapest Hungarian Indoor Championships and Budapest Open in 400m.

Janka Molnar achieved her first international success in 2017 when she won the bronze medal at the 14th European Youth Olympic Festival in Gyor with a time of 55.00 sec. The Hungarian 4x100m also reached the final in the competition but failed to finish. During the season, Janka Molnar won the gold at the Budapest Open and Budapest Hungarian U18 Indoor Championships in 200m and Budapest Hungarian U18 Indoor Championships in 400m. She also won silver at the Budapest Hungarian Indoor Championships and bronze at the Szekesfehervar Hungarian Championships in 400m.

The following year Janka Molnar finished sixth at the Gyor European U18 Championships and seventh at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games in 400m. Later during the season, she competed at the Tampere IAAF World U20 Championships in 400m hurdles but did not reach the final. However, she won gold at the Gyor Hungarian U18 Championships, Szekesfehervar Hungarian Championships, and Budapest Hungarian U18 League Final, as well as silver at Budapest Hungarian Indoor Championships in 400m. In 400m hurdles, she won the gold at the Budapest Open, Gyor Hungarian U18 Championships, Budapest Hungarian Super League Final, and Budapest Hungarian U18 League Final.

In 2019, Janka Molnar finished fifth in the 400m hurdles at the European U20 Championships in Boras, Sweden, as well as fourth in the 4x400m relay at the European Athletics Team Championships First League in Sandnes, Norway. during the season she won gold at the Hungarian U20 Championships and Hungarian U20 Indoor Championships, as well as silver at the Hungarian Indoor Championships and Hungarian Championships in 400m. In 400m hurdles, she competed at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial Hungarian GP in 400m hurdles but remained 8th.

In 2020, Janka Molnar won the gold at the Hungarian Championships and Hungarian Indoor Championships in 400m, the gold at the Hungarian Championships in 400m hurdles, as well as the silver medals at the Hungarian Indoor Championships and Hungarian U20 Indoor Championships in 200m. She also won the Hungarian Super League Final in 400m and 400m hurdles.

In 2021, Janka Molnar won the bronze at the European Athletics Team Championships Second League in 400m hurdles and gold at the 4x200m, as well as competed at the European Athletics U23 Championships in Talinn, Estonia, finishing 5th in 400m. Locally, at the Hungarian Indoor Championships she won gold in 400m and bronze in 200m, while at the Hungarian Championships, she won gold in 400m hurdles and silver in 400m.

Janka Molnar proved to be one of the top Hungarian athletes in 2022. At the Hungarian Indoor Championships, she won the gold in 200m and silver in 400m, while at the Hungarian Championships won the gold in 400m hurdles. She also won gold medals at the Hungarian GP Series – Budapest and the Hungarian GP Series – Papa in 400m hurdles. Janka Molnar competed at the European Athletics Championships in 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay but remained out of the final.

In 2023, she started the indoor season strongly, winning the Hungarian Indoor Championships in 200m and 400m and Nyiregyhaza Fedettpalyas Versenye in the 4x400m relay. During the outdoor season, she won the bronze at the European Athletics Team Championships Second Division in 400m and the gold at the Hungarian GP Series – Budapest in 400m hurdles.
