Evelise Veiga is a Portuguese long jumper who also competes in triple jump events. She is a World University Games winner and Ibero-American Championships Silver medalist.

Evelise Veiga was born on March 3, 1996, in Santiago, Cape Verde. She grew up in Portugal, where started in athletics as a kid and showed her talent in jumping. She became the Portuguese junior champion and was one of the most talented athletes in the country.

Evelise Veiga started her competitive career in 2012, winning the long jump silver at the Luso Portuguese Junior Championships. The same season, although quite young, she competed at the Espinho Portuguese Indoor Championships, finishing 6th in the long jump.

In 2013, she debuted at the international youth forum, competing at the Donetsk IAAF World Youth Championships in the long jump, but did not overcome the qualifications. During the season, she won her first national medals, earning the silver at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships and the bronze at the Leiria Portuguese Championships. She also won the long jump silver at the Pombal Portuguese Junior Indoor Championships and Pombal Portuguese Indoor Club Championships.

In 2014, Evelise Veiga won her first international gold at the Goa Lusofonia Games in India, winning the long jump title. She also triumphed with the gold at the local Marinha Grande Portuguese Club Championships and Guarda Meeting Internacional.

Evelise Veiga won the long jump bronze at the Leiria Portuguese Championships and Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships, as well as the gold at the Vagos Portuguese Club Championships, but also competed in the same event at the Eskilstuna European Junior Championships, finishing 10th. During the season, she competed also in the triple jump, winning the gold at the Braga Portuguese Junior Championships and finishing 9th at the Eskilstuna European Junior Championships.

In 2016, Evelise Veiga won her first national title triumphing with the long jump gold at the Maia Portuguese Championships, improving her personal best to 6.51m, but also won the bronze in the triple jump from the same competition. She also earned another triple jump bronze at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships. During the season she competed at the Tunis Mediterranean U23 Championships in the long jump, but missed the medals for a while, finishing 5th.

In 2017, Evelise Veiga won the long jump gold at the Vagos Portuguese Championships and Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships, as well as the triple jump bronze at the Vagos Portuguese Championships. She competed at the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships, finishing 5th in the long jump and 12th in the triple jump. During the season, she won the silver at the Vaasa European Athletics Team Championships First League and the bronze at the Sabadell Miting Internacional de Catalunya in the long jump.

Evelise Veiga made another strong season in 2018, winning the triple jump silver at the Jesolo Mediterranean U23 Championships. In the long jump, she won the gold at the Leiria Portuguese Championships and Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships, but also finished 8th at the Berlin European Athletics Championships, improving her personal best to 6.61m. She won the gold at the Birmingham ECCC Group A and Jesolo Mediterranean U23 Championships.

In 2019, Evelise Veiga proved to be one of the top European athletes in the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, she won the gold at the Castellon ECCC Group A, Lisboa Portuguese Championships, and the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships, as well as the silver at the Irena Szewinska Memorial, Napoli Universiade, Sandnes European Athletics Team Championships First League, and Stockholm Folksam GP. In the triple jump, she won the gold at the Napoli Universiade and the silver at the Lisboa Portuguese Championships but also competed at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

In 2020, Evelise Veiga improved her personal best in the long jump to 6.64m, jumping it at Meeting Cidade de Lisboa, Estadio Universitario in Lisboa, where won the gold. She also triumphed with the long jump gold at the Lisboa Portuguese Championships and Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships. She competed also at the top-rated competitions ORLEN Copernicus Cup, Indoor Meeting – Karlsruhe, and Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix Gyulai Istvan Memorial, but missed the medals for a while. In the triple jump she earned the silver at the Lisboa Portuguese Championships and the bronze at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships.

Evelise Veiga dominated the Portuguese long jump in 2021, but winning the gold at the Maia Portuguese Championships and Braga Portuguese Indoor Championships, but also triumphed with the gold at the Meeting Cidade de Lisboa and the silver at the VIII Trofeo Diputacion de Castellon and Meeting Iberoamericano. In the triple jump, she competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but missed to reach the finals. However, she earned the bronze at the Maia Portuguese Championships and the silver at the Braga Portuguese Indoor Championships.

Evelise Veiga started fantastic the 2022 season, by winning the long jump gold at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships and the Dynamic New Athletics Indoor Match in Glasgow, as well as the triple jump silver at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Evelise Veiga won the long jump gold at the Leiria Portuguese Championships, IX GP Diputacion de Castellon, Memorial Moniz Pereira, the silver at the BoXX United Manchester World Athletics Continental Tour, Ibero American Athletics Championships, as well as the bronze at the XIX Mediterranean Games and Hengelo FBK Games. She competed also at the Eugene World Athletics Championships and Munich European Athletics Championships.

In 2023, Evelise Veiga turned to competing mostly in the long jump, where achieved her biggest successes. She won the gold at the Pombal Portuguese Indoor Championships and Meeting of Lisbon, as well as the silver at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting and Meeting Maia Cidade do Desporto. She finished 8th at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships.
