Kate Doherty

Kate Doherty is an Irish athlete, who specializes in 60m and 100m sprint distances, as well as hurdles and relays. She is a silver medalist in the 2021 Chorzow World Athletics Relays and national champion.

Kate Doherty was born on January 27, 1997, in Ireland. She started in athletics as a kid and developed her skills at school. She started as a hurdler but later moved to sprints.

Kate Doherty debuted as a competitive athlete in 2014, winning the gold at the Tullamore Irish National League and silver at the Tullamore Irish Schools Championships in 100m hurdles. She also was 4th at the Tullamore Irish Junior Championships in the same discipline.

In 2015, Kate Doherty proved to be one of the most talented young athletes in Ireland. She won the silver at the Athlone Irish U23/U20 Indoor Championships and bronze at the Athlone Irish Juvenile Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles. During the outdoor season, she made her international debut, winning the bronze at the Nivelles Meeting International EAP in 100m hurdles.

Kate Doherty continue gaining experience in 2016, winning the silver at the Waterford Athletics Event and bronze at Dublin Irish University Championships in 100m hurdles. She won the gold at the Tullamore Irish Club Championships and competed at the Leiria ECCC Group B, where finished 5th close to the medals zone.

In 2017, Kate Doherty won the silver at the Cork Irish University Championships and the gold in the Belfast athletics event in 100m hurdles.

She started competing in both hurdles and sprint distances in 2018. At the Tullamore Irish U23 Championships, she won the gold in 100m and silver in 100m hurdles. During the season she won the silver at the Dublin Irish Championships in 100m hurdles and gold at the Tullamore Irish National League in 100m hurdles. At the sprint distances, she won the silver at the Leixlip Le Cheile International.

In 2019, Kate Doherty won gold at the Tullamore Regional Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles and 200m. She won the Irish U23 Indoor Championships and Irish Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles, as well as the silver at the AAI Indoor Games in Abbotstown in the same discipline. During the outdoor season, she competed at the Gavle European U23 Championships, won the silver at the Irish U23 Championships, and the gold at the Irish University Championships in 100m hurdles.

In 2020, Kate Doherty won the gold in 60m and the silver in 60m hurdles at AAI Indoor Games in Abbotstown, as well as the silver at the Irish Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles.

Kate Doherty made her biggest achievement in 2021, winning the silver at the Chorzow World Athletics Relays in 4x200m relays. She won silver at the Irish Championships and gold at the 32° Arcobaleno Atletica Europa in 100m hurdles. At the AAI Games in Dublin, she won bronze in 100m hurdles and gold in 100m.

In 2022, Kate Doherty won the silver at Dynamic New Athletics Indoor Match and Irish Indoor Championships in 60m hurdles but also won the title at the Irish Indoor Championships in 4x100m. During the outdoor season, she won the gold at the Belfast Irish Milers Meet in 100m, gold at the Irish Championships in 100m, and silver at the Irish Championships in 100m hurdles.
