Magdalena Bokun

Magdalena Bokun is a Polish athlete, who specialized in the long jump. She is a European Team Championships silver medalist and National Indoor champion. Her personal best in the long jump is 6.71m outdoors and 6.43m indoors.

Magdalena Bokun was born on May 29, 1996, in Lelis, Poland. She started in athletics from an early age and became one of the biggest hopes of Polish athletics. She is a three-time Polish youth champion in the long jump in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Magdalena Bokun started competing already in 2012 when she earned the gold at the Warszawa U18 Events, the silver at the Warszawa Halowy Mityng WMOZLA, and the bronze at the Siedlce U18 Events. She competed also at the Spala Polish U18 Indoor Championships but finished only 5th.

In 2013, Magdalena Bokun won the silver at the Spala Polish U18 Indoor Championships, as well as the gold at the Warszawa Mityng WMOZLA. During the outdoor season she also won the gold at the Slubice U18 Events and the silver at the Lodz U18 Events, as well as competed at the Lodz Polish U18 Championships, but finished only 4th, just a step from the honors.

Magdalena Bokun did not make her best season in 2014, remaining without honors at the Polish Junior Championships – indoor and outdoor, but still earned the gold at the Lidzbark Warminski, as well as the silver at the Biala Podlaska U20 Events.

In 2015, Magdalena Bokun continue gaining experience and grabbed the gold at the Slubice U20 Events, but again was just a step from the honors in the Polish Junior Championships – indoor and outdoor. During the season, she tried herself in the triple jump as well, winning the bronze at the Biala Podlaska Polish Junior Championships.

In 2016, Magdalena Bokun competed at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships and Bydgoszcz Polish Championships in the long jump but failed to win a medal. However, she won the gold medals at the Jelenia Gora Polish U23 Championships and Biala Podlaska Polish Club Championships, as well as the bronze at the Maribor SLO-CZE-HUN-POL U23 Match.

Magdalena Bokun was close to winning her first Polish championships medal in 2017 but remained 5th at the Bialystok Polish Championships. She also competed at the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships but did not reach the finals. However, she proved to be one of the most talented young long jumpers in her country, winning the gold at the Suwałki Polish U23 Championships.

In 2018, Magdalena Bokun won the silver medals at the Lublin Polish Championships, Toruń Polish Indoor Championships, and Inowrocław Polish Club Championships. She competed at the London Athletics World Cup but remained only 7th. During the season, she won gold at the Kraków POL-CZE-HUN-SLO U23 Match and Sieradz Polish U23 Championships.

Magdalena Bokun continue being one of the top long jumpers in the country in 2019, winning the silver medals at the Radom Polish Championships and Jelenia Gora Polish Club Championships, as well as the bronze at the Irena Szewińska Memorial. She also won the gold at the Polish University Championships and Torun Indoor Meeting.

In 2020, despite the short athletics season, she made some significant achievements, winning the silver at the Wloclawek Polish Championships, Poznan Grand Prix Meeting, and Janusz Sidlo Memorial, as well as the gold at the Memorial Zygmunt Szelest.

In 2021, Magdalena Bokun won her biggest honors so far – the silver medals at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Super League and at Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi. She also won gold at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships.

In 2022, she won the silver at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships. She competed at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup but missed for a while the medal.

Magdalena Bokun made her most successful season in 2023. During the indoor season, she won the silver medals at the Torun Polish Indoor Championships and Aarhus SPRINT’n’JUMP, as well as the bronze at the Meeting Internacional Catalunya Pista Coberta. During the outdoor season, she earned silver medals at the Gorzow Wielkopolski Polish Championships and Chengdu FISU World University Games. She made a strong performance at the 69° ORLEN Janusz Kusociński Memorial and European Athletics Team Championships First Division but missed to win the honor.
