Gaia Sabbatini

Gaia Sabbatini is an Italian middle-distance runner. She won the gold medal in the 1,500m at the 2021 European Under-23 Championships. Gaia Sabbatini is the Italian indoor record holder for the 1,000m, three-time Italian national champion, and European Team Championships winner. Her personal best in 1,000m is 2:48.06 min, while in 1,500m is 4:01.24 min.

Gaia Sabbatini was born on June 10, 1999, in Teramo, Italy. She started in athletics at an early age and proved her talent from the very first events she participated in.

Gaia Sabbatini started her competitive career already in 2015. She took part in the Chieti Italian Club Championships, winning the gold in 200m and silver in 400m, while at the Macerata Italian Club Championships, she earned bronze in 800m. During the season, Gaia Sabbatini won the gold at the Pescara Trofeo Citta di Pescara and Fermo Meeting in 800m. She also competed at the Milano Italian U18 Championships in 800m and Ancona Italian U18 Indoor Championships in 100m, remaining 4th in both.

In 2016, Gaia Sabbatini won the gold at the Bressanone BRIXIA Meeting, Macerata Regional Championship in 800m, and Macerata Italian U18 Club Championships in 800m and 400m, as well as the bronze at the Ancona Italian U18 Indoor Championships in 1,000m. She also earned gold at the Ascoli Piceno Ascoli Meeting in 1,500m.

Gaia Sabbatini started competing internationally in 2017, representing her country at the Grosseto European U20 Championships in 1,500m, where finished 8th. She also competed at the prestigious Lausanne U20 Athletissima in the same distance but remained 5th in the final.
