Georgia Ellenwood

Georgia Ellenwood is a Canadian athlete competing in combined events. She is the NCAA champion and NACAC U23 Championships bronze medalist, as well as the Pan American Junior Championships bronze medalist. She is also a multiple national medalist.

Georgia Ellenwood was born on August 5, 1995, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great skills in the high jump and long jump, but was also good in sprints. Thus, she started competing in the combined events and gained her main honors in these events.

Georgia Ellenwood started her competitive career in 2010. She earned the high jump gold and the long jump silver at the Ottawa Canadian U16 Championships.

In 2011, she won the 400m and high jump gold at the Richmond Harry Jerome Relays Indoor and the 100m hurdles, long jump, and high jump gold at the Burnaby Regional High School Championships. She also earned the high jump silver at the Abbotsford Lafarge International Track Classic. During the season she debuted in the combined events, winning the heptathlon gold medals at the Burnaby Regional High School Championships and Ottawa Canadian U18 Combined Events Championships, but also competed at the Lille IAAF World Youth Championships in the same event.

In 2012, Georgia Ellenwood won the 100m gold and high jump silver at the Calgary Canadian Championships, 400m gold at the Seattle UW Indoor Open, and long jump gold at the Eugene Oregon Preview, as well as the 60m hurdles gold at the Vancouver Harry Jerome Indoor Classic. She competed at the Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championships in heptathlon but finished 18th.

Georgia Ellenwood won her first combined events titles in 2013, triumphing with the gold at the Sainte-Therese Canadian Junior Championships and the bronze at the Medellín Pan American Junior Championships in the heptathlon, but also earned the high jump gold and long jump bronze at the Burnaby Harry Jerome International Track Classic, as well as the long jump gold at the Sainte-Therese Canadian Junior Championships.

In 2014, Georgia Ellenwood competed at the Eugene NCAA Div. I Championships and Eugene IAAF World Junior Championships in the heptathlon, but finished 12th and 7th, respectively. In the high jump, she triumphed with the gold at the Kamloops BC Athletics Championships and Madison Wisconsin Open.

Georgia Ellenwood competed at the Gwangju Universiade in 2015 and was close to the medals in the heptathlon, but finished 5th. In the same event, she also finished 10th at the Eugene NCAA Div. I Championships, but won the bronze at the East Lansing Big 10 Championships. In the pentathlon, she finished 8th at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships and earned the silver at the Geneva Big Ten Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, during the season, she earned the high jump bronze at the Iowa City Musco Invitational and the high jump gold at the Madison Wisconsin Open. In the long jump, she won the gold at the Madison Wisconsin Open and the silver at the Langley Pacific Invitational Meet.

In 2016, Georgia Ellenwood won the 60m hurdles gold at the Madison Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame Dual, the high jump bronze at the San Salvador NACAC U23 Championships. She finished 5th at the Edmonton Canadian Championships in the high jump but earned the bronze in the long jump. In combined events, Georgia Ellenwood earned the gold at the Cedar Falls Jack Jennett Invitational and the silver at the Geneva Big Ten Indoor Championships in the pentathlon, as well as the silver at the Lincoln Big Ten Championships and the bronze at the Athens Bulldog Multis in the heptathlon. In pentathlon, she finished 9th at the Portland IAAF World Indoor Championships and 4th at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships, while in the heptathlon finished 4th at the Ottawa Pan American Combined Events Cup and 5th at the Eugene NCAA Div. I Championships.

Georgia Ellenwood continued specializing in the combined events in 2017, winning the gold at the Geneva Big Ten Indoor Championships and the Iowa City Black and Gold Premier in the pentathlon. She finished 7th at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships.

In 2018, Georgia Ellenwood won her most prestigious titles so far, triumphing with the gold medals at the Eugene NCAA Div. I Championships and Ottawa APA Combined Events Cup in heptathlon, but also earned the bronze at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships in the pentathlon. Meanwhile, during the season she won the 60m hurdles gold at the Ames Iowa State Classic, 100m hurdles gold at the San Diego California Collegiate Open, high jump gold at the Calgary Track Takeover, and long jump bronze at the Burnaby Harry Jerome Track Classic.

In 2019, Georgia Ellenwood competed at the Golden Label’s Hypo-meeting in Gotzis in the heptathlon but finished only 12th. In the same event, she won the gold at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Meanwhile, during the season she earned the 100m hurdles gold and 200m silver at the Wisconsin Alumni Classic, as well as the 60m hurdles gold at the Red & White Classic.

Georgia Ellenwood continued with her great performance in the United States in 2020, winning the high jump gold and 60m hurdles silver at the Jack Jennett Open. In the pentathlon, she earned the gold at the Jack Johnson Classic.

In 2021, Georgia Ellenwood competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing 20th in the heptathlon. In the same event, she earned the gold at the Golden Label’s Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting, but also competed at the top-class competitions 34th Multistars in Lana and Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis, finishing 6th and 11th, respectively.


Georgia Ellenwood continued with her competitive athletics career in 2022 although suffered a terrible injury of a ruptured Achilles. She succeeded in winning the long jump gold at the York Open and the 60m hurdles gold at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite.

In 2023, Georgia Ellenwood won the silver at the Heptathlon Langley Canadian Championships but competed also at the Santiago Pan American Games and the Golden Label’s events at the Hypomeeting in Gotzis and Decastar in Talence, but did not earn an honor.
