Clara Fernandez is s Spanish pole vault athlete, who is a Spanish U18 and U20 champion, as well as a Spanish U23 silver medalist. Her biggest achievement so far is the silver from the European Youth Olympic Festival.

Clara Fernandez was born on October 22, 2003, in Barcelona, Spain. She started in athletics as a kid and showed good results in the pole vault. She became a multiple junior champion of Spain in different age groups. She is one of the biggest talents in Spanish athletics.

Clara Fernandez made her competitive debut in 2018, winning the gold at the Sabadell Spanish U16 Indoor Championships with 3.66m. She also earned the bronze at Sabadell Míting Internacional and later during the season improved her personal indoor best to 3.81m. During the outdoor season, Clara Fernandez won the gold at the Castellon Spanish U16 Championships but also triumphed with gold medals at the meetings in Aviles, El Prat de Llobregat, and Sant Cugat del Valles. The Spanish athlete improved her personal best outdoor to 3.85m.

Clara Fernandez continued improving her results in 2019 and dominated the higher age group. She triumphed with the gold medals at the Castellon Spanish U18 Championships and Valencia Spanish U18 Indoor Championships, where overcame the 4-meter mark for the first time and won by 4.01m. Her biggest achievement during the season was winning the silver at the Baku 15th European Youth Olympic Festival. Meanwhile, during the season, she earned the gold at the Barcelona Regional U20 Club Championships, Mataro Pole Vault Meeting, and Palafrugell EAP Meeting, as well as the silver at the Sabadell Regional Indoor Championships, San Cugat Pole Vault Meeting, Ironwill Barcelona Challenge, and Barcelona Míting Internacional d’Atletisme.

In 2020, Clara Fernandez defended her U18 national titles, triumphing with the gold at the Valencia Spanish U18 Indoor Championships and Tarragona Spanish U18 Championships. During the season, she earned the silver at the Sabadell Míting Internacional Catalunya and the bronze at the Míting Internacional D´Atletisme Ciutat de Barcelona, but also debuted at the senior national championships, unfortunately finishing 9th at the Madrid Spanish Championships. However, she continued being a top junior athlete, winning the gold at the regional Sabadell Regional U18 Indoor Championships, Campionat Catalunya U20/U18, and Campeonato de Espana Federaciones Autonomicas U18, as well as the silver at the Gran Premio Internacional Ciudad de Valencia and Sabadell Regional Indoor Championships.

In 2021, Clara Fernandez finished 10th at the Getafe Spanish Championships but won the bronze at the Pamplona Spanish Club Championships with a new personal best of 4.05m. She earned the gold at the Antequera Spanish U20 Indoor Championships, Campionat de Catalunya U20, the silver at the Campionat de Catalunya, Monzon Spanish U20 Championships, and Barcelona Campionat de Catalunya, as well as the bronze at the VIII Trofeo Diputacion de Castellon. She competed at the Tallinn European Athletics U20 Championships but finished 10th in the qualifications and did not reach the finals.

In 2022, Clara Fernandez competed at the Cali World Athletics U20 Championships but again did not qualify for the finals. She finished 11th at the Nerja Spanish Championships and 9th at the Ourense Spanish Indoor Championships, but defended her U20 titles at the Antequera Spanish U20 Indoor Championships and Torrent Spanish U20 Championships. Meanwhile, during the season, Clara Fernandez earned a bronze at the Zaragoza Trofeo Ibercaja, setting a personal best of 4.15m. She also won the silver at the Campionat de Catalunya, Valencia Gran Premio Internacional, as well as the gold at the Barcelona Campionat de Catalunya U23 and Lleida Campionat Catalunya U20.

Clara Fernandez continued gaining experience in major forums in 2023, as she competed at the Star Perche in Bordeaux, finishing 9th. She also finished 8th at the Madrid Spanish Indoor Championships, 5th at the Huelva Meeting Iberoamericano, 6th at the Castellon VII Memorial Jose Antonio Cansino, and 10th at the Míting Internacional d’Atletisme Ciutat de Barcelona. During the season she competed also at the Valencia Mediterranean U23 Indoor Championships, but missed the medals finishing 5th.
