Erika Furlani

Erika Furlani is an Italian high jumper, silver medalist at the 2013 World Championships, and absolute Italian champion in 2017. Her personal best results are 1.94m outdoors and 1.90m indoors.

Erika Furlani was born on January 2, 1996, in Marino, Italy. She started in athletics at an early age. In 2010, she finished fourth in the Italian Junior Championships, a competition she won the following year in Jesolo. In March 2011 in Ancona, with a result of 1.74m, she set the third-best Italian indoor junior result ever.

During the 2012 indoor season, she competed in the International Junior Indoor Meeting between France, Germany and Italy in Val-de-Reuil in France, finishing in sixth place. In the season she also wins the Italian student title and the indoor silver medal with a seasonal record of 1.77m, as well as finishing 13th in the long jump. She also competes in Bressanone, finishing in eighth position.

In 2013, Erika Furlani won the Italian title for indoor students, she ranked 9th in the long jump and was awarded the title of vice-champion outdoors. She also takes part in the Milan event where finishes in sixth place. In June 2014, she made her debut with the national team at the European team championships in Braunschweig, Germany, finishing in ninth place, and finally came seventh at the junior world championships in Eugene in the United States of America.

In Italy, she won two indoor-outdoor national junior titles, with an indoor personal best of 1.86m, and then won the bronze medal indoors.

In 2015, Erika Furlani won the Italian junior outdoor title, with a seasonal personal best of 1.83m, and she became also the national indoor vice-champion, with an indoor seasonal best of 1.84m. She finished in 9th position at the European Junior Championships in Eskilstuna in Sweden.

In February 2016 in Ancona, Erika Furlani won the bronze medal at the Italian indoor championships. In July 2017 she won the Trieste Italian Championships and became the absolute Italian champion. During the season she won the bronze medals at the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships with 1.86m and the prestigious Rovereto Palio Città della Quercia with 1.83m.

Erika Furlani continue improving her results and making a great performance at the European athletics events in 2018. She won the gold at the Jesolo Mediterranean U23 Championships and Ancona Italian U23 Indoor Championships both with 1.86m. She also won the bronze at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships.

In 2019, Erika Furlani won the silver medals at the Italian Championships in Bressanone and the CAS Meeting in Schifflange. She became also the Italian Indoor Championships bronze medalist.

In 2020, she competed at the Golder Label event Herculis in Monaco but finished only 7th. However, she remained among the top 3 in the Italian Championships.

Erika Furlani competed at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munchen but again remained without a medal.
