Jennifer “Jenny” Montag is a German athlete, who specializes in the sprint, especially in the 100m. She is the gold medalist at the European U20 Championships in the 4x100m relay.
Jennifer Montag was born on February 11, 1998, in Hackenbroich, Germany. She started in athletics at the age of five and joined the local athletics club. In 2014, she was third in 60m at the Leverkusen Regional U18 Indoor Championships, while a year later won the title in 100m at the Leverkusen Bayer Invitational Meeting.
In the winter and spring of 2017, Jennifer Montag had her first successes at the national level. First, she won the silver medal over the non-Olympic distance of 60m at the U20 Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen. In May, she broke the 25-year-old U20 record for the North Rhine region in 11.44 sec over her special distance of 100m. At the U20 championships in Ulm, she won two more medals in the 100m and 200m. After winning the 100m bronze at the U23 Championships in Leverkusen, she won the 4x100m relay at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto with a world youth record of 43.44 sec.
In 2018 Jennifer Montag won the German U23 Championships at 100m for the first time an important individual title. She won also the Leverkusen Regional Indoor Championships in 60m.
In 2019, Jennifer Montag was also successful in the 4×100 meter relay at the U23 European Championships in Gavle and won – also with the relay – the silver medal at the national title fights in the general classification. At the beginning of the season, she made her international debut at the IAAF World Relays for adults, finishing 5th in the 4x200m relay. At the individual events, she won the gold at the Leverkusen Regional Indoor Championships in 60m and the bronze at Bayer-Classics in 100m.
Jennifer Montag won the gold at the prestigious Trainingswettbewerb event and CMCM Indoor Meeting, as well as the silver at the German Indoor Championships in 60m. During the season she completed at the European Indoor Championships but finished only 7th.
