Yana Hladiychuk is a Ukrainian athlete, who competed in the women’s pole vault event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She is a three-time Balkan Championships winner (indoor and outdoor) and five-time national champion (indoor and outdoor).

Yana Hladiychuk was born on May 21, 1993. She started in athletics at an early age and proved to be one of the top young athletes in the country. She started in general athletics, long jump, and combined events, but later specialized in the pole vault.

Yana Hladiychuk started her competitive career in 2010, winning the gold at the Yalta Ukrainian U18 Championships in heptathlon and the silver in shot put. She also competed at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships in pentathlon but remained out of the medals zone.

In 2012, she earned the silver at the Yalta Ukrainian University Championships in the heptathlon, while on the next season, she concentrated on the long jump mostly, competing in the 2014 Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships, but finished 13th.

In 2015, Yana Hladiychuk specialized in the pole vault and started competing only in this event, taking part at the Kirovograd Ukrainian Championships, Kirovograd Ukrainian Club Championships, and Kirovograd Ukrainian U23 Championships.

Yana Hladiychuk won her first national gold in 2016 at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships but also grabbed the bronze at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. During the season she also earned gold at the Kirovograd Ukrainian Club Championships, Zaporozhye Ukrainian Indoor Club Championships, and Kyiv Ukrainian Indoor Cup.

In 2017, Yana Hladiychuk started the season by winning the silver medals at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships and Kropyvnytskiy Ukrainian Championships, as well as the gold at the Kyiv Christmas Stars Meet and Zaporozhye Ukrainian Club Championships. The Ukrainian athlete also competed at the Villeneuve d’Ascq European Team Championships in the pole vault but finished 7th in the final.

Yana Hladiychuk won another two national silver medals in 2018, finishing second at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships and Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. She also earned the gold at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Club Championships.

In 2019, Yana Hladiychuk remained the national runner-up, again winning the silver at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships and Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. During the season she debuted at the Diamond League, competing at the Stabhochsprung-Meeting, but finished 9th. She earned the silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian Club Championships and the gold at the Kyiv Regional Team Championships.

Yana Hladiychuk earned the gold at the 2020 Cluj-Napoca Balkan Championships and the 2020 Istanbul Balkan Indoor Championships. She also earned her second national title at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships and the silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. She also triumphed with the gold at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Club Championships and Kyiv Ukrainian Indoor Cup. During the season she improved her personal best of 4.50m and set and Ukrainian National Record.

In 2021, Yana Hladiychuk competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but with a result of 4.40m in the qualifying round failed to reach the final. She earned the third Balkan title, triumphing at the Istanbul Balkan Indoor Championships, as well as her third national title at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships. Yana Hladiychuk also earned the silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships and Smederevo Balkan Championships. During the season, she competed at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships and Memorial Josefa Odlozila in the Czech Republic. She earned the bronze at the Grand Prix Gliwic, as well as the silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian Club Championships.

Yana Hladiychuk started the 2022 season, earning the gold at the Kyiv Ukrainian Indoor Club Championships and 9. Nationales Breuninger Hallenmeeting in Erfurt. She also competed at the Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships but finished 4th, very close to the medals zone. During the outdoor season, she competed at the Eugene World Athletics Championships and Munich European Athletics Championships, but again missed the medals zone. She earned the fourth national title at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. She earned the silver medal at the Memorial Josef Odloziila and Castiglione International Meeting in Grosseto, Italy.

In 2023, Yana Hladiychuk competed at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships but again missed to qualify the finals. During the season she earned her fifth national title at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships and also the bronze at the Kraljevo Balkan Championships. During the season, she won the silver at the 19.Int. Golden Roof Challenge in Innsbruck, Sky’s the Limit 2023 in Zweibrucken, and Velka cena Tabora, as well as the bronze at the 10. Breuninger Hallenmeeting in Erfurt.
